Neahkahnie Mountain

Neahkahnie Mountain

$8.00

A forest of rugged trees and mountain trails ending on a sandy beach at the edge of the ocean.

The Neahkanie Mountain shawl uses simple garter-stitch mosaic to create lots of texture depicting the fir trees and hiking trails down the mountain onto the beach. Easy texture and lace stitches in the solid color panels further represent the rugged terrain. Mosaic (slip-stitch) colorwork uses only one color per row, making it an easy colorwork technique.

Have fun watching the texture emerge almost like magic as you work the color bands! (Yes, there is a textural aspect that pops out unexpectedly….)

Neahkanie Mountain Shawl is a triangular shawl constructed top-down and seamless. The colorwork is slip-stitch, mosaic with garter stitch used for added texture.

Mosaic (slip stitch) is fun and easy as colorwork goes, given that only one color of yarn is used at any time. The solid bands are worked in simple lace and texture stitches. Contrasting colors and a smooth yarn are recommended for the Mosaic colorwork to be vibrant and visible.
