Forest Park Cardigan
Forest Park Cardigan
Forest Park is rugged sophistication in a versatile grandpa cardigan and it’s sized for women and men. Wear Forest Park from the hiking trails to the board room or to snuggle up in front of a fire with a good book!
For a simply elegant sweater jacket, make it in the shorter length or make it longer for a more traditional comfy cardigan. Make the pockets the size you prefer. Chunky ribbing finishes all of the edges and the generous shawl collar.
The textured colorwork uses only one color per row and no steeks are needed as WS rows are easy. See mosaic tutorial by Felicia Wong/ Sweet Georgia yarns here using my Smugglers Cove Shawl.
Forest Park is worked top-down and seamless (except for sewing down the sides of the pockets) and the raglan yoke and body are worked back and forth. Stitches are picked up for the shawl collar and button bands to add structure and stability, and short rows shape the shawl collar. Sleeves are worked top-down and in the round, ending with simple colorwork and ribbed cuffs.
The bottom of the pockets are created while working the lower body and then finished later…what a fun way to construct a pocket that lays flat and smooth!
Instructions are included for longer length, bigger pockets, making sleeves larger for those extra muscular upper arms, and how to read the mosaic colorwork charts.
